How do I move hostkeys when replacing my hardware
If an AppGate Security Server (hardware or virtual machine) is replaced it's important to move the hostkeys from the old server to the new one. If this is not done every client will refuse to connect. This of course applies only if the new system is serving on the old IP number and/or name.
This is how you can do it:
Use "System Settings->File Transfer" to copy four (4) files from /var/opt/appgate/conf. They are named ssh_host...
Again using File Transfer, copy the four files to /var/opt/appgate/conf on the new hardware.
Now you can change the IP name and number on the new machine to the new settings
- When done, take care to erase the copies as they are security sensitive and should be allowed to go astray.
